Okay so I was reading about this crazy historic letter that's about to be auctioned off, and I'm like, totally fascinated. It's from George Washington, but not the GW we think of - you know, the first president and all that. This is a 23-year-old GW, writing to his supposed first love, Sally Fairfax. I mean, who knew he had a first love, right? (I'm picturing him as a young, brooding dude, like a colonial-era vampire or something...)
Anyway, this letter is a big deal because it's the last privately-held letter from GW to Sally, and it's going up for sale. I'm not even kidding, I was trying to find out more about Sally, and it's like, she's this mysterious figure from history. I found out she was married to GW's friend, Thomas Fairfax, which is just, like, wow. Complicated, right? (I'm getting ahead of myself, but I swear, this story is like a real-life soap opera...)
So, the letter. Apparently, it's from 1758, and GW is pouring his heart out to Sally. I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little curious about what he wrote. Was it, like, super romantic? Did he declare his undying love? (I'm imagining him writing by candlelight, with a quill pen, and a broken heart...)
What We Know About the Letter
Honestly, not much. The auction house is being pretty tight-lipped about the whole thing, which is just, like, teasing us. But supposedly, the letter is in good condition, considering it's over 250 years old. I mean, that's just crazy. (I'm thinking about all the hands it's passed through, and the stories it could tell...)

Okay, so the letter is going up for sale, and I'm like, who's gonna buy it? Some rich collector, probably. (I'm picturing a fancy auction room, with people bidding in secret, and the letter being sold to the highest bidder...)
Anyway, the auction is happening soon, and I'm a little sad that I won't be able to see the letter in person. But hey, maybe the new owner will, like, share it with the world or something. (I'm crossing my fingers, but let's be real, it's probably gonna end up in some private collection, never to be seen again...)
