Okay so I was thinking, April is National Poetry Month, and I'm like, I should totally write a poem (because, you know, I'm a blogger and not a poet, but whatever). I mean, who doesn't love a good poem, right? It's like, the ultimate way to express yourself without, you know, actually having to say anything out loud.
So I started thinking about what I wanted to write about, and honestly, it was hard. I mean, do I write about my cat, Mittens, who's currently sitting on my keyboard (thanks, Mittens)? Or do I write about something deeper, like my hopes and dreams (which, let's be real, are mostly just about getting through the day without spilling coffee on my shirt)?
Anyway, I decided to write about my grandma, who was, like, the most amazing person ever. She always had this spark in her eye, and she could make anyone feel loved and special. I'm like, totally tearing up just thinking about her, which is, you know, super attractive (not).
Writing Your Own Poem: Tips and Stuff
So if you want to write a poem for National Poetry Month (which, let's be real, is basically just an excuse to get all emotional and stuff), here are some tips: just, like, write from the heart, you know? Don't worry too much about rhyming or meter or any of that jazz. Just write what feels true to you.
And don't be afraid to be cheesy or sappy or whatever. I mean, poetry is all about expressing yourself, right? So if you want to write a poem about how much you love pizza (which, let's be real, is a totally valid topic), then go for it.
My Favorite Poems (aka the Ones That Make Me Cry)
I swear, there are some poems that just, like, get me every time. You know, the ones that are all beautiful and poignant and stuff. Like, have you read 'The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock' by T.S. Eliot? It's like, whoa. So good.
Or, like, 'The Road Not Taken' by Robert Frost? That one's all about, you know, making choices and taking risks, and it's just, like, so relatable (even though it was written, like, a million years ago).
Anyway, I'm rambling. The point is, poetry is, like, the best, and we should all celebrate National Poetry Month by writing our own poems and sharing them with the world (or, you know, just with our friends and family, because let's be real, not everyone wants to read our poetry).
Oh, and Mittens just walked across my keyboard again, so I'm just going to, like, wrap this up. My dentist appointment is in an hour, and I still need to, you know, brush my teeth and stuff.
